Case Study
Andrew - First Click Marketing
Background
In early 2025, Glasgow-based digital agency First Click Marketing partnered with Asia Scotland Interns to explore a flexible, cost effective way of growing their content team. With multiple client accounts and growing demand for social media services, the agency needed reliable support for content planning, post scheduling and copywriting without the delays or overhead of traditional hiring.
The Intern
Angelica Dela Cruz, a communications student from Manila, was selected after a shortlisting and interview process. With previous freelance experience and a strong academic track record, she stood out for her creativity, eye for visual detail and willingness to learn. Angelica committed to a 4-month remote internship, contributing 4 days per week to First Click’s active client portfolio.
The Work
Working remotely from the Philippines and aligned with UK time zones, Angelica was quickly integrated into the team. She supported a range of clients across sectors, including retail, professional services and food & drink by drafting Instagram and LinkedIn posts, repurposing content for email newsletters, sourcing royalty-free imagery and preparing engagement reports. Using shared tools like Trello, Canva and Google Workspace, she collaborated seamlessly with account managers and the design team.
The Impact
Over the course of the placement, Angelica produced over 100 pieces of branded content, helped maintain consistent publishing schedules for three clients, and contributed to a 12% increase in average post engagement for one of First Click’s lifestyle brands. Beyond her creative output, her presence freed up time for the in-house team to focus on campaign strategy and client meetings.
Reflections
“Angelica was fantastic, she understood briefs quickly, brought fresh ideas to our content planning meetings and delivered work to a consistently high standard. As a small agency, having that kind of support made a big difference.”
Andrew – Director, First Click Marketing
Angelica described the experience as “a massive confidence boost”, noting that the internship gave her “real-world structure and feedback, which made me more organised and focused.” She successfully completed the full programme, including Asia Scotland Interns’ professional development modules, and was awarded a certificate of completion.
Conclusion
This placement demonstrated the power of remote internships to deliver value on both sides: Angelica gained tangible career skills and international exposure, while First Click Marketing received dependable support in a key business function. It’s a model that First Click plans to repeat in future intakes with other roles that are available.
